Maddogs Lose in Hard-Fought Contest to Rival Dartmouth

Tuesday September 19, 2005
By Ross Shepard

The Northeastern Maddogs came out on the short end of a 17-15 final Saturday at Parsons Field.

The Dogs were fired up early, putting the first points on the board with a quick try less than five minutes into the match. From that point on, ball control ruled as it was a back and forth battle between the hosting Maddogs and Dartmouth College.

Both teams arrived fully prepared for the contest, and the preparation showed on the Northeastern side with accurate kicking, a strong push from the forwards and good ball movement in the back line.

In the final few minutes of the match, the Maddogs were plagued by penalties and the Dartmouth defense held steady deep in their own territory, fending off the last Northeastern push toward the try zone.

The NURFC looks to regain form and even out its record this Saturday on the road at UMass Amherst.
