BOSTON, MA - On July 11, eight former Maddogs took part in the filming of a rugby scene for the upcoming film The Departed, slated for release in 2006.
Directed by Martin Scorsese, the film deals with a police officer (Leonardo DiCaprio) and a gangster (Matt Damon) who are able to infiltrate the respective organizations of their adversary. The sequence, filmed Monday on the Boston Common, is a match between the trainees of the Boston Fire Department and the Boston Police Department.
The Maddog alumni who participated, along with 24 other members of the Boston Rugby Football Club, were able to mix it up with Damon and fellow actor James Badge Dale (24). The Maddogs look forward to seeing a few of their own on the silver screen.
Present at the filming were the following alumni:
Tom Armington - Flanker,
Boston Fire Dept.
Nino Balducci - Winger, Boston Police Dept.
