This past Saturday the Mad Dogs hosted last years league
champion Army. Things started off poor for the Dogs. Army was able to capitalize
on a unorganized defense within the first five minutes of play. Consistent
mental errors proved to be the fate of the Dogs. Army was able to take advantage
of every opportunity they had while the Dogs could not catch a break on any
of theirs. The ball was not bouncing in their favor and it showed with a final
score 52 – 0.
Despite the grinding they took on the gridiron there are several positive
things the boys were able to pull. Five meters out from scoring a try Army’s
scrum called for a “Ranger”, an attempt to push ours over. An
attempt was the best Army could do. A significantly outweighed pack took their
skills and training to the pitch that day as they were able to dominate most
of the scrums.
The Dogs mistakes were amplified by a well trained Army and they are looking to take a serious bounce-back this week. What was an eye-opener may prove to be just what the Dogs ordered. Join us this week as the Dogs prove what they are made of versus playoff rivals Norwich for a game scheduled to start at 1pm.
